Afternoon students are happy to be back in school |
Many poor Haitian families can not support their children. As early as 5 years old, they may be sent to live with other families where they can earn a living as a servant. Children who work as servants for families near the School of the Infant Jesus can attend without cost during the afternoon. They eat their lunch at the school and are grateful for the chance to learn. They are taught subjects through the 4th grade.
